This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for Mammon in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top true story about the fallen TV preacher and her criminal husband. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares initially, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals commence profiting from the people's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, overdone appearance and insincerity, yet Jessica Chastain succeeds to present Tammy Faye with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, late night, the Film4 channel
